Tea blends that come out of Africa are primarily black tea blends. They are darkly roasted and processed using a method called Crush-Tear-Curl (CTC). This processing method puts the tea leaves through a fine-toothed roller machine that breaks down the roasted leaves into small particles by the end of the process.
The end result is a tea that is more granular than leafy and resembles pellets or even coffee grounds more than the most of the other blends we carry. The flavor characteristics are a strong, robust “earthy” flavor that is sure to please.
At ESP Tea Emporium, we select only premium African Black loose teas for their freshness and rich flavorful characteristics. Our freshly cultivated leaves are left to oxidize, just the right amount of time, to reach a perfect black coloring and full-bodied flavor.
