Sri Lanka tea

Tea production is one of the main products of Sri Lanka (formerly Ceylon). The reason for this is that the humidity, cool temperatures, and abundant rainfall of the country’s central highlands provides the perfect growing conditions for high-quality tea.

Each of Sri Lanka’s growing regions produce teas with distinctive flavor and aroma. Low grown teas, which are subjected to long periods of sunshine, dry and somewhat warm, moist conditions produce a tea with a burgundy color and a heavy note of malt.

Whereas tea grown in the high region are dramatically different, depending on the time of the year, influenced by the cool winds and dry conditions these teas are likely to be very light, with greenish, grassy notes.

While keeping to the authentic regional characteristics of teas produced in Sri Lanka we have created several blends that will give you all of the best aromas and flavors of teas produced in this excellent tea growing region including our organic Ceylon Blackwood OP Organic Black Tea, the rare Ceylon Ratnapura FOP Special Black Tea and the classic Decaffeinated Ceylon Earl Grey Black Tea.
